I was having lunch with Daniel Matsunaga at Azuthai when my phone rang.
My cousin Keri was picking me up to go to her photo shoot at Luneta Hotel.
I was both relieved and disappointed. Disappointed because I wanted to eat more shrimp cakes. Relieved because it's hard to eat in front of this.
More on Daniel later.
Initially I thought we would be shooting at some presidential or penthouse suite, but when we got there, it was like this
Nyarks! Construction site!
Thought I would be able to score nice photos. Instead, I just snooped around for whatever information I could gather.
First, there will be 27 guest rooms in the six-storey hotel.
Interior design is by Arlen P. De Guzman Design Associates.
From what little I saw—including renderings I couldn't photograph—it looks promising.
I could tell research was done to come up with unique pieces.
The bathrooms are not perfect for me but OK.
Then some of the bedroom furniture are simply amazing and will take you back in time.
Although most iron parts were reportedly looted, some pieces are still here and will be incorporated in the design.
Laying out the tiles, and yes, Jude, there will be checkerboard tiles in the lobby. Saw them in the renderings.
There's a fresh coat of paint on the exterior. Wish all buildings were painted like Singapore.
Tiling a bathroom. Hmmm.....I can already predict the dreaded glass wall...
and I wish I could show you more, but that's all.
It's a nice small hotel, but if done really well, it's gonna rock Manila.
We already want to book!!
Opening is scheduled for April, but then you never know.
Check out this old video from 2006.
