Will 2011 be a banner year for model-actor Daniel Matsunaga?
If his busy schedule were an indication, then by the end of year, he might as well be crowned the “Breakthrough Star”.
With a bigger fan base comes the more daunting task of facing controversies. Daniel, however, is unfazed.
“Intrigues are part of showbiz. And as long as I know that what I am doing is right I am not a bit worried,” he says.

Very recently,  the rising star was the subject of rumors via YouTube where he was caught lip-locking with a lady inside an elevator.
Daniel clarifies: “It was a clip for a Veet promo which I am working on. Yes, I was worried how my girlfriend would react. But I explained to her. I am lucky I have a very supportive girlfriend."
Daniel will be the talent in a VEET brand promotion this coming February where the lucky winner will get a special date with Daniel.

“I enjoy being in showbusiness. All the screaming, and picture-taking, and the many good friends I meet along the way, they are so overwhelming. I feel blessed,” says Matsunaga, now contract star of GMA Network.
Having been in the Philippines for only two years, the Brazilian-Japanese, who stands 6'1", is lucky to have meaty assignments.
Daniel’s TV projects—top-raters all—include “Love Bug”, “Langit sa Piling Mo” and more recently, “Grazilda.”
He hopes to appear in the new GMA hit “Dwarfina” with his real-life girlfriend lucky b*tch Heart Evangelista.

Among the actors he has worked with, Daniel considers Joel Torre and Cherie Gil, among his favorites.
“I look up to Joel and Cherie. They are very good,” he says.
If it were possible Daniel said he would like to join “The Amazing Race” or be in a reality show.
“I really like sports and other physical activities. I am into football, muay Thai, swimming, running.”
This year, the Kapuso network has lined up a series of shows for the 22-year-old model, including possibly, a boy band project with fellow models Akihiro Sato and Fabio Ide.

The accidental model has worked around the globe, in at least 20 countries, for labels such as Armani, Hugo Boss, and Guess.
He began doing modeling work at age 15 in Brazil.
“Modeling is not an easy job. You have to work hard. You always have to keep fit. I go to the gym at least twice in a week. Given a choice between modeling and acting, however, I would choose acting,” says Daniel.
Five years from now Daniel hopes of still being in showbiz.  “My dream is to do a movie like “Troy” or “Gladiator” where there’s a lot of action,” Daniel relates.
We’ll be watching.
