Last Thursday, Jeroen and I were in Eastwood City to preview the graduation exhibit of Philippine School of Interior Design's Advanced Class of 2010. My mom graduated from PSID c. 1986; I was curious what the new students were up to.
This year's theme is "Caleidoscope". Students were asked to pick out Pantone colors from a lottery and create a room based on that color.
Here are some of the more memorable rooms we saw:
The color is Avocado. The group of Xyza Armada, Rossana Gonzalez, Katrina Uy, Eunice Enriquez, Rauther Rivera and Terence Yu created a lounging concept that can be taken outdoors. I was interested in the geometric metal furniture that we can probably use upstairs on the roofdeck.
Here's a clever makeup table for a small space like a hotel or guest room.
Saw this at the corner of the Sage room designed by Julie Ann Fernandez, Emma Karseboom, Cheri Roberto, Bernard de Guzman and Jane Ong.
Saw these cute graduates giggling in the dark and I just had to take a photo.
Here's a fun concept the kids would love. We just couldn't help but enter the Indigo egg space age hangout.
The room is by Naighleyn Francisco and Rei Monique Yu.
Jeroen "pours" one of them a glass.
I've never heard of the color Cornflower. Here's a homey kitchen created by John Dexter Arciosa, Marian Eileen Florentino, Albert Rausa, Amalia Francisco and Lorraine Noelle Franco.
In the middle of the kitchen is a cooking station where Chef Jeroen played "cooking demo" with the designers.
If anything it felt like a movie set. These kids could also be great set designers.
Heliotrope is an interesting color—it's easy on the eyes and blends well with earth tones.
The bedroom is by Bursley Co, Marj Francisco, Ronaldo Espedido and Karen Mendoza.
Here's a retro-modern Tomato kitchen by the group of Marjorie Jalos, Karen Lopez, Vanessa Joy Sta. Maria, Coco Martinez and Sung June Park. It reminds me of those spacey concepts during the '70s (but I think these kids are too young to know :)
FInally, Sang de Beouf was the color picked by Eileen Gonzales and Sid Salazar.
They created a cozy sitting area that can also work in one's veranda. The kids would definitely love this one.
PSID's graduation show Caleidoscope opens to the public on October 3 to 31, 2010 from 10 AM-8 PM at the Athena Building, Eastwood City, Libis, Quezon City. For more information, visit their Facebook page.
