Bomberg is a Swiss watch brand that looks at time-keeping from a different perspective.
While other brands from Switzerland bank on tradition, Bomberg is all about youth, modernity and breaking free.
Bomberg describes itself as a “young Swiss company that infuses the watchmaking world with a good dose of audacity and rebellion.
Bomberg recently launched two of its most popular collections in the Philippines—the iconic 1968 and the BOLT-68. Bomberg Philippines brought in all 50 models from the two collections (25 for each for the 1968 and 25 for the BOLT-68).
“We went for Bomberg because of its unique design,” said Andy Bulanadi of Bomberg Philippines.
“The look of the watches is very edgy—it’s for young urban professionals who work hard and like to go out during the weekends.”
Antonio Quarta, sales director of Bomberg, presented the brand to select media during its launch in the Philippines. “Bomberg dares to reinvent its products and rewrite its codes of communication,” he said.
The 1968, Bomberg’s most iconic model, is characterized by its unconventional design. The timepiece has a very unique look: an asymmetric case, crown and pushers positioned at 12 o’clock as a bullhead, two large counters and a sporty strap. The unconventional choice of positioning the hands in the 1968 adds to the timepiece’s distinctive look. The dial has a tachymeter, day date and different way of displaying hours and minutes–the minutes are in the outer “ring” and the hours in the inner “ring.” The 1968 has smaller models that women can wear.
The BOLT-68, on the other hand, can be used as a wristwatch and as a pocket watch with the buttons and the crowns placed at 12 o’clock. The face of the chronograph model features three counters plus the date while the GMT version shows a second time zone at three o’clock. Using a bayonet system with a trigger guard—an exclusive system patented by Bomberg—the time-keeping module can be detached from the base. Now a pocket watch, the BOLT-68 has a chain with links that are oversized, with the two snap hooks visible from end to end.
Bomberg timepieces are androgynous. Bulanadi said while the watches are big and have a masculine feel, women love the BOLT-68 because of its dual usage.
“Bomberg timepieces are a modern day reinterpretation of classic watch making,” he added.
