Jujiin Samonte may look Japanese, but he's not.
His mom does work in Japan, so Jujiin gets to visit her for long stretches every year.
In Tokyo, people are surprised when Jujiin tells them he's Filipino. He so fits in right with them.
I've been telling Juj to take Nihongo lessons in Tokyo since he has the opportunity to stay there for months. (Nihongo is a frustration of mine—I never got to finish my lessons.)

Daniel Henney leaves tomorrow.
I just remembered he did a Bench shoot in Boracay many years ago and wondered if Ben Chan would host dinner for him like he did for Nicolas Ghesquierre in 2006.
Was hoping to be invited so I could see him again up close.
But it's good to be friends with Bench because I got the pictures from that photo shoot.

Last May 2004, Bench had a five-day shoot in Boracay that included models Jon Hall, Gary Dulatas, Chinese model Lu Yan and Korean-Irish model, Daniel Henney.

South African photographer Matthew Brookes shot the ad campaign, assisted by Jerome Laurent.
Styling was done by Singaporean Jeremy Tan.
Hair by Pops de Guzman and makeup by Krist Bansuelo.

A Philippine Star article said Henney's "movie star girlfriend from Hong Kong" was also there.

After the five-day shoot, the cast packed up for Manila, had a farewell dinner at Restaurant 12 (how vintage!) and a night out at Malate.
And we even didn't know who Daniel was then.
Wala bang despedida?

Our friend CJ is leaving for London, so a despida was planned at Cedric's house.

However, CJ was running a 39.6° fever and was advised to stay in bed—a hospital bed with IV drip!
But the show must go on!
As usual there was a number Globe Blackberries on the table

and a couple of class pictures were taken by self timer.

Last year, Solo's successful online model search discovered Jaggy Tallada and Jhonna Flor as grand winners.
Now on its second year, Solo celebrates the works of Larry Alcala through a search for Solo's two new faces of 2011.

Who can join:
• Male or Female, at least 18 years old, residing in the Philippines.
• May be an individual or a team that consists of a model/graphic artist/photographer.
• Has no modeling/endorsement contract with a clothing line or competing label.

MECHANICS:
1) Buy any Larry Alcala apparel from SOLO. (For store locations, click here.
2) Complete the registration form at http://www.solo.com.ph/modelsearch/user/register
3) Wear the Larry Alcala garment in your photo entry.
You may mix other pieces of clothing, as long as there are no apparent/visible/noticeable branding of other labels.
4) Innovation/alteration is allowed but the majority of the print should stay intact.
5) Props are allowed. Full face of the model should be visible.
6) Download and make use of any design elements from the vectors packet found here.
7) Embed the Solo logo in your entry.
8) Entries accepted up to October 31, 2010. Online voting ends on November 15, 2010.

Submissions must follow these specifications:

How nice to wake up to text messages saying they saw me in the paper and liked the article about me.
It's an honor to be written up in the paper I've been working for, the last six years or so.
And it's extra nice that Raymond Gutierrez interviewed me, considering I have history with his family.
Raymond has always been friendly, even when I constantly poked my finger into his sister's private life.
But somehow after so many negative write ups, something happened and Raymond watched while Ruffa and I made up in public after hearing Al Gore speak.

Raymond Gutierrez has started a simple blog which compiles all the profiles published in his weekly column, The Dialogue in the Philippine Star.
Format is Q&A and titles are witty and to the point. (I know my friend in Tokyo will have a good laugh when she reads this because the title is the opposite of an inside joke she calls someone...)
