Thanks to my recent post about the Mystery Shampoo, I found out from readers that the Ba Wang shampoo I was using had cancer-causing ingredients!!

Ba Wang shampoo
Hello, Mystery Shampoo!
Mystery shampoo

I actually took the shampoo and conditioner to Singapore and I've been using them the last nine days.

Me

Sorry I look jetlagged here—joke lang! My sister-in-law and I talked too much and slept at 3 AM that day.
After nine days, my hair is no longer dry from the Ba Wang shampoo. Hair feels very soft.

Me

Shampoo and conditioner have a nice fruity scent. I don't have to use a lot because I have very thin hair. A very small amount of conditioner is applied on ends only.
Now, find out more about Mystery Shampoo, how you can get a free sample, win a Blackberry Bold and other cool prizes.

Wow ang bilis mag upload! The Kris Aquino Confessions just aired about an hour ago and it's already on YouTube. I haven't seen the entire thing but here are my first impressions:

1) Correct me if I'm wrong ha, but don't you think Victoria Beckham's airport attire is much chicer than Kris Aquino's ensemble?

Victoria Beckham enlarge

x2_21fd099 (Photo: DARLA SAULER)

2) Does Kris Aquino act like she's so giddily in love? She practically admitted to being attracted to Junjun Binay. (WTF)
3) When she starts to cry, my roommate says, "Kris Aquino is full of shit. Please write that in your blog."
4) Why is Boy Abunda dressed like Dr. Evil?

dr-evil

x2_21fbd37 (Photo: DARLA SAULER)

5) It looks like they're going to milk this interview and expose James Yap's dirty laundry on The Buzz this Sunday, and that Kris is going to expose his flirtation with Korean radio DJ Grace Lee, who apparently doesn't need makeup to look gorgeous.

Grace Lee

Ok, I'm sleepy na. I'll watch these vids tomorrow.
Warning: Boy Abunda is wearing a see-through blouse.

Bethenny wears Rajo!

Now that the "Real Housewives of New York City" is over or in limbo, I've been following "Bethenny Getting Married?" on iTunes.

Real Housewives of NYC

Natural foods and celebrity chef Bethenny Frankel (upper left) was a finalist on Martha Stewart's "The Apprentice" reality show in 2005.
In 2008 she joined the cast of the "Real Housewives of NYC" where she proved to be the most popular character due to her strong and witty personality.
In Season One, she was viewed as the underdog and least wealthy of the housewives, but by the end of Season Two she had met the love of her life, Jason Hoppy, who joins her in the spinoff show, "Bethenny Getting Married?"

bethennymarried

So how cool is it that last night Bethenny, who had just given birth to Baby Bryn, was already trim enough to wear this Rajo Laurel dress on the show?

Screen shot 2010-08-01 at 1.24.29 AM

You can't see it in this particular shot, but Bethenny's wearing a Rajo piece from his "insect" collection.

Screen shot 2010-08-01 at 1.24.35 AM

Here's the dress, as seen on Stylecaster.com.

The white and black color block tank dress is made of a stretchy material and retails at Intermix, according to Rajo.
Bethenny looks great! Hope to see more of Rajo Laurel's pieces on the show.

Aquino targets NAIA 3 full operations in December
Via: abs-cbnNEWS.com

MANILA, Philippines—President Benigno Aquino III said the government is expecting to fully operate the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) 3 in December.
This developed after the International Criminal Court (ICC) in Singapore on Saturday favored the Philippine government in the arbitration case against the Philippine International Air Terminals Co. (Piatco) in connection with the NAIA 3 contract.
The ICC decision is similar to the decision of the arbitration in Washington which dismissed the complaint of Fraport AG, a German investor in NAIA 3, against the government.
"It is with very intense delight that I was informed that we won by the dismissal of the complaint in Singapore," said Aquino in a press conference on Sunday, adding it is significant that the government won in both cases.
The favorable ruling meant the Philippine government will not be obligated to pay $1.1 billion to the complainants.
Aquino said, however, that he wants to know the details of the ruling.
"As you know the devil is in the details. I am awaiting for briefings of the details to move foreward and have NAIA 3 used to its maximum capacity."
"We are targeting (full operations) in time for the Christmas holidays," said Aquino.
On Saturday, Presidential spokesperson Edwin Lacierda said that with the case dealt with finality, the Department of Transportation and Communications will thresh out details on how the operations of the NAIA 3 will be done.
The NAIA 3 is currently not being used to its maximum capacity because of the cases.
Piatco was the consortium that submitted a winning counter-bid to build the NAIA 3 against the unsolicited proposal of AEDC, a corporation then formed by five Chinese-Filipino tycoons.
In December 2004, the Supreme Court (SC) nullified the build-operate-transfer contract between Piatco and the government due to onerous changes to the original contract.
The government then took over the terminal and started expropriation proceedings. This prompted Piatco and Fraport AG to file cases before local and international courts.
In December 2005, the SC issued a ruling ordering the government to pay Piatco just compensation if it wanted to take over the terminal.
The Manila International Airport Authority was scheduled to hold a soft opening of NAIA 3 on March 31, 2006 but this was cancelled when a portion of the ceiling collapsed.

One of the things I love about Bonifacio High Street is the fact that it's open late.
Since I'm a night person, I appreciate the fact that I can go there if I have the urge to buy something really important, like a chair. For that, I would go to Dimensione.

Dimensione

One of my favorite finds at Dimensione are the Magis chairs that are perfect for outdoors or even as indoor accents.

There's the Magis Puppy on our deck.

Another great find from Dimensione is the Magis Voida chair (right, in white)

But Ivan Padilla, ringleader of a carnapping gang is dead.

I'm luma sa balita.
Embarrassing to admit, I'm kind of late when I found out about Lady Gaga and now Justin Bieber. I became curious only because my goddaughter Clara Magalona was showing me the dance last Saturday.
The 15-year-old heartthrob's appeal was compared by Oprah to Frank Sinatra in the '50s, or probably what Leif Garrett was to me in the '70s.
When I was a kid there were no malls, only Unimart in Greenhills. So when Leif Garrett came to Manila, we waited in Unimart to watch him sing "Surfing USA" and "Da Do Ron Ron." LOL.

And now there's Justin Bieber.
I feel weird calling him a heartthrob, because he's a kid. Still I can't help being mesmerized because I can imagine if you're 10-15 you could really fall in love with this kid. He can sing, he can dance, he can even play drums. I really just don't get the hair. Sabagay, Leif Garrett had the weirdest hair too and we liked him.
Here's hoping he doesn't end up like Leif Garrett now.

President Aquino's paycheck is just one of the things that needs to be changed in this country. For how can you expect government officials to be straight and honest if their salaries are a joke?
According to reports, President Aquino's first paycheck was worth PHP 63,002.17 after deductions were made. (Source)

sfhires

I believe President Aquino when he says "hindi ako magnanakaw."
But what about the other people around him, and the presidents after him?
Shouldn't the CEO of the country earn more than PHP 63,002.17 after taxes?
Let's take a look at what other government officials are earning elsewhere and compare.

United States:
President Barak Obama: US$ 400,000, plus US$ 50,000 expenses (total of PHP 20,166,750/year)
Vice President Joe Biden: US$ 202,900 (PHP 9,092,963)
Cabinet Secretaries: US$ 157,000 - 186,600 (PHP 7,035,955 - PHP 8,362,479)
Secretary of State (Hillary Clinton) - US$ 186,600 (PHP 8,362,479)

Australia: Prime Minister: US$ 229,000/year (PHP 9,448,200)

Japan: Prime Minister: US$ 243,000/year (PHP 10,890,045)

Canada: Prime Minister: US$ 246,000/year (PHP 11,024,490)

United Kingdom: Prime Minister: US$ 279,000/year (PHP 19,989,424)

Germany: Prime Minister: US$ 303,000/year (PHP 13,578,945)

France: Prime Minister: US$ 318,000/year (PHP 14,251,170)

Hong Kong: Prime Minister: US$ 516,000/year (PHP 23,124,540)

Now take a look at what Singapore government officials are earning compared to everyone else.

President: SGD 3,140,000/year or US$ 2,330,414. At PHP 104,437,509, even I think that's a bit much.
Prime Minister: $US 2.47 million (PHP 110,693,050)—or about six times more than the U.S. President.
The monthly pay for a Member of Parliament is SGD 12,000 (US$ 8,900) per month or SGD 144,000 (US$ 106,872) per year, tax free. (That's PHP 400,000/month or PHP 4,800,000/year).
(Source)

How much do you think the President of the Philippines should earn in order to be an effective and honest public servant?

While last week's winner was chosen by our sponsor, this week, the winner was handpicked by me.
Vic Rosales writes about the office chair he found at Dimensione, Bonifacio High Street.

"Thought I'd share a chair I bought relatively recently from Dimensione.
I had been stalking it for quite sometime and now I use it while reading my class books.
It's a leather high back office chair. It has very good back support and modern-esque design. Not really good with the style stuff, but this one caught my eye."

dimensione office chair

"The picture shows it in the store and the guy assembling it while I waited."

dimensione office chair

"I got it from the High Street branch for less than PHP 10,000. I highly recommend it.
I spend about four to six hours a day reading and its the only chair I've used that doesn't leave me with a sore lower back.
The lower back and lumbar support are great, although I suggest you have the store staff put together new stock in front of you then try it out. Its a hit or miss thing with some of these chairs."

dimensione office chair

http://vicspotting.blogspot.com

I chose Vic's entry because I totally agree with Dimensione office chairs. I bought one for myself, but Jeroen liked it so much, he sequestered it for himself. (He will kill me for posting this candid photo!)

Jeroen's desk

A couple of years later the cheap office chair I was using was getting uncomfortable, so I went back to Dimensione to look for the exact same chair, but they no longer had it.
I searched all around Metro Manila and found the best alternative at S&R Price Club (also at Bonifacio Global City) but at double the cost of the Dimensione chair. So I bought that for Jeroen and got my Dimensione chair back.
I do spend a lot of time writing so the chair is a great investment.
