Back to Prada

I think it's amazing how Prada managed to regain chicness since the early '90s. That was the time everyone in New York seemed to have a Prada backpack. It was such a fad, and then it was gone.
Louis Vuitton took over, then Balenciaga, Goyard, Chanel, Hermès. And then prices went sky high.
I just find it ridiculous to walk into a store selling canvas bags that cost more than $2000.
That's why I find it such a relief that Prada's new offerings are not only chic but well priced.
In April I spotted this roomy canvas bag at the Hong Kong airport and had to have it.



During Singapore Fashion Week I saw a woman with this bag at the Fashion Summit.
I almost lost sleep Googling it, and found one the next day at the Prada flagship store at Ion Orchard.



In June, my sister was in New York and got me the special edition version of the canvas bag in dark denim.



You might be surprised that all three cost the equivalent of one Vuitton bag.
Oh, and my benefactor paid for all of them, so thank you!
The one Prada bag I'm paying for was recently ordered and being shipped to Cedric, so I'll have to wait. It's a clear smoked PVC tote with linen trim.
The price is also less than a Speedy.


And that is why I noticed not only I, but my mom and sister have also switched to Prada as well. As other luxury brands continue to raise their prices, hoping to make their products seem elusive to customers, I'll pass.
I would rather buy something that is simple, better designed, with a better price.
