Dear Kind Reader,
I’m helping out colleague and school mate Bea Ledesma and her batch mates at Assumption College High School Batch 1999 raise funds to help as many students finish high school at St. Vincent’s Academy in Kauswagan, Lanao del Norte—a poor, war-torn area in Mindanao.
Together with the Religious of the Assumption, the school strives to educate the children of Kauswagan academically, emotionally, and spiritually. The children are taught the importance of seeking and keeping peace through various activities such as the yearly Peace Camps.
Keeping children in school gives them the education and skills they need to succeed in life. However, it is important to send children to schools such as SVA because there they are taught the values they will need to grow into good, peace-loving adults.
For only Php 3,500, you can send a child to school in SVA for an entire school year.
Your contribution can change a child’s life and put him or her on the path to a peaceful, well-lived life.
Many of the children in Kauswagan are desperate to go to school but lack the means to do so.
Instead of buying say, a new pair of shoes or a top, why not sponsor a new scholar through the ACHS Batch 99 Scholarship Program?
If you have three other friends willing to sponsor, all four of you can sponsor one student for the entire high school’s four years at by donating Php 3,500/person.
Besides scholarship money, the school desperately needs:
1. a working clinic
2. more (up to date) computers
3. more reading materials in the library
4. refurbishing the muslim prayer room
5. higher teachers’ salaries
6. SRA or Student Record Books
If you’d like to sponsor a child, deposits can be made to BPI account # 3769 0508 75
Account Name: Gladys Santiago or Christine Laumond
Please email your deposit slip to achs99@gmail.com so they can track your donation and assign you to a child. Or email them directly if you’d like to help out in other ways such as donating in kind (books, computers, etc.)
