Last Saturday, her daughter Danica won the Supermodel of the World title in New York City—the first time a Filipina has bagged the title.
Last year, Charlene Almarvez won 1st runner-up, while Charo Ronquillo placed 3rd in 2006.

In a phone interview with GMA News, Danica’s mother, Lala, related how she received the good news.
“She called me up 5 AM and says, ‘Mommy, I have an award.' So I’m, like, ‘What award?’ And she’s, like, ‘I’m the winner!’"
First runner-up went to Lithuania who was awarded a $150,000 modeling contract, while second-runner up went to Poland who received a $100,000 contract.
