One of the things I wanted to look for while in Tokyo last November was the Inujirushi store in Asakusa.
Inujirushi or "Dog Brand" is an old Japanese company that has been making canvas bags in the same place for the last 50+ years.
They are known for their bicycle bags, messengers, and tote bags marked by a signature kiss lock closure and two pen slots.
My first Inujirushi bag was actually bought from Tita Virgie Ramos's former Sanrio Luxe store at Greenbelt 5, which carried the Hello Kitty collabs by Inujirushi.
I liked it so much, I eventually bought a bigger red one from the same store. Both Tita Virgie and I own the red one.
When Sanrio Luxe (sadly) closed, I had to get my Inujirushi fix elsewhere. So I made it a point to search for the store in Tokyo.
After having late lunch at Steak Kuni near the Sumo Stadium, Jeroen and I took a cab to Asakusa in search of The Store.
It didn't take long to get there. What we found was a retro hole-in-the-wall, which I entered excitedly, while Jeroen kind of took one look and walked out while I took time to decide what to buy.
I couldn't decide, so I bought a lot for myself and my friends. Although the sales persons were very helpful, I didn't even have the guts to ask if I could take pictures inside.
You could also have your bag custom-embroidered if you want.
So here's what I have in my possession: five bags, two organizers and a notepad cover.
The black horizontal bag fits my 11" MacBook Air nicely.
The notepad cover with the Hello Kitty print was specially designed for the Muji notepad. So I grabbed it.
Here's the organizer I got for my friends.
If you're interested to visit, store locations are here.
