I wish I had pursued Interior Design instead of Fashion. As I get older, the more shallow and frivolous I view fashion and its followers—but I'll admit I still love the shopping aspect of it.
I'm so out of it. I guess our interests go hand-in-hand with our age.
When we were kids we liked toys. As teens and we liked clothes and as career women, we liked bags and shoes.
But now that I'm older, a parent and homeowner, focus is more on the home and staying at home.
Going out is no longer interesting since my best friend is at home.
I prefer to wear sweats and stay in my room. I do like having guests at home and taking care of the boys.
So it makes sense that I would want to beautify my surroundings.
When I get older, I think I will love plants.
Currently I'm working with two young architects on renovating a tiny studio that would be a backup for scary Ondoy or no water days or just days that I vant to be alone, Garbo style.
Since the room is only 38 square meters, I want to make the most of it and create a boutique hotel feel.
I want to have special things in it, including a spartan, minimalist bathroom.
I've chosen the floor, bathroom tiles, toilet and have some chairs in mind. Now I'm looking at lamps.
I definitely need this Hector Serrano clothes hanger lamp on one of the walls.
Also considering the Chewbacca mask lamps by Philippe Starck, seen at Mama Shelter in Paris.
But not the devil.
The boys would like it, I think.
I'm gonna take a look at these Wooster and Jeeves lamps by Jake Phipps in Hong Kong next week.
But Jeroen and I are leaning towards the Milk Bottle lamps by Dutch Designer Tejo Remy.
We shall ask Opa to find him in Utrecht and inquire the possibility of shipping it here.
