Kris and James’ division of property could amount to at least P300 million

Estranged couple Kris Aquino and James Yap could divide properties amounting to at least 300 million pesos should the court nullify their marriage.
In a “TV Patrol” report on Aug. 17, a court insider revealed that Aquino’s tax declaration is said to have stated over 300 million pesos in earnings in the last five years of her marriage to Yap. Her husband, meanwhile, had a reported total earning of 20 million during the same period.
The report added that one of the couple’s biggest properties is their high-end condominium in Makati, where they resided after they sold their Valle Verde home early this year.
Yap confirmed Aquino’s earlier declaration that they did not have a pre-nuptial agreement when they wed on July 5, 2005. However, the basketball cager’s camp maintained that they are not running after his wife’s money.

Meanwhile, the hearing for Yap’s petition for visitation rights to son Baby James has been set for Aug. 20, Friday.
Yap’s camp filed the petition on Aug. 16 at the Makati Regional Trial Court after Aquino allegedly prohibited him from seeing their three year-old child. Aquino is said to have already agreed for Yap to see Baby James provided that the two parties settle on the schedule.
Aquino’s legal counsel maintained that their client’s petition to nullify her marriage, which includes the request to change Baby James’ surname to that of his mother, is a “legal consequence” in case the court grants the nullification, and was not done to offend Yap.
“’Yung consequence talaga ng petition is that the common children will be declared illegitimate and we thought that it’s only proper that if that’s the case, that the son should take after the mother’s name,” explained Atty. Sharlyne Lapuz on “24 Oras,” Aug. 17.
Yap’s lawyer, Atty. Lorna Kapunan, dismissed the other party’s contention saying it is "not legally feasible.”
The lawyers of Aquino have advised the actress not to speak further about her marital issues while the legal proceedings are ongoing.
Aquino filed the petition for the declaration of nullity of marriage last Aug. 9 at the Makati RTC.
