My friend Lia once called me "the salt of the earth."
I never what that meant until this morning, it finally dawned upon me, because I have met a really bland person.
There are movers and shakers and those who are willing to take a risk to make changes whether in their lives, in their community, or in the world.
Then there are those would rather take a back seat and be quiet and let life pass them by. They live in fear of what others will say and they become paralysed. They don't want to ruffle feathers and they wonder why nothing happens in their lives. They have no voice, no power. They lead bland lives, like driftwood waiting for things to happen. And they don't realise that you can make things happen if you want to. You don't have to be mean or evil but if you mean well and care for others, it's OK to have a voice and speak out if you think something is wrong. Yes you are bound to offend people, because many people hate people who have a voice. But don't forget even Jesus had haters. Even Pope Francis has haters.
We are neither Jesus or Pope Francis and are far from perfect but we mean well most of the time and we are not one to take a seat and watch life and opportunities pass us by.
