A chic new hotel just opened it doors along Pasig’s Shaw Boulevard, right across Capitol Commons.
Privato Hotel is a collaboration among Architects Carmelo Casas, Juan Carlo Calma, and J. Anton Mendoza.
It boasts of veritable art work, including a life-sized wire sculpture by Davao-based artist, Ann Pamintuan.
The lobby, which is fully wrapped in Italian marble, features Calma’s distinct Privato pattern.
Made of Italian Carrara and Black Marquina, each marble “blade” was carefully water cut and painstakingly pieced together to create this design.
Furniture is proudly Philippine-made, designed by Tina Periquet among others.
Tucked on the 6th floor facing Bonifacio Global City is the Piazza Privato restaurant, which offers a sleek dining experience amidst J. Anton Mendoza’s signature clean and stark designs.
The Piazza is open to the public and serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner daily from 6-10 PM.
Since the developer is Green Asia Real Estate, the art pieces at Piazza Privato play a role in its advocacy for sustainability. The acrylic birds were inspired by endangered Philippine bird species.
Meanwhile, the wall art (at left) was commissioned from Japanese artist, Wataru Sakuma.
Made out of recycled paper, the triptych resembles a “nest” for the endangered birds.
The Mona Lisa portrait has a little back story.
According to urban legend, the Mona Lisa was actually the Duchess of Milan. As an ode to the fabled lady, her portrait holds her court at Privato.
For events and banquets, event planners can choose from the Milano Ballroom (it fits 120 guests!), the Firenze Ballroom, Roma A and B Function Rooms, and the Verona Roof deck Bar.
The rooftop also features the pool and gym.
