I’m so thrilled to receive makeup from Antonio Lopez x MAC Cosmetics!
Antonio Lopez was one of our idols during my UP College of Fine Arts years in the mid-’80s.
His style was something I could relate to, and my friends and I tried to copy his illustrations.

During his heyday his work captured the fascination of Karl Lagerfeld and Yves Saint Laurent, and launched the
careers of model icons Jerry Hall, Marisa Berenson, Pat Cleveland and more.
Born in 1943 in Utuado, Puerto Rico, Antonio Lopez moved with his family to New York’s Spanish Harlem at the age of seven.
In the late 1950s he attended the Fashion Institute of Technology, where he met his lifelong lover and professional partner, Juan Ramos.
After leaving FIT, he moved on to work for Women’s Wear Daily, where he became the publication’s most famous illustrator. Soon he was offered a position at The New York Times, and later freelanced for Vogue, Harper’s Bazaar, Elle and Andy Warhol’s Interview.
His career soared from the ’60s to the ’80s, then in 1984 he was diagnosed with HIV.
He traveled around the world looking for experimental cures, then on March 17, 1987, he died at the young age of 44.
Now MAC Cosmetics captures the legendary illustrator’s vibrant energy, brazen attitude and love of life in a striking color collection featuring: Eyes x 6 Palettes, Lips x 3 Palettes and Face Palettes perfect for highlighting natural tones and contours. Each palette displays the face of one of his muses.
(Eyeshadow: Php 3360 • Lip palette: Php 2200 • Face palette: Php 3700)
Also available are three limited-edition accessories showcasing the unmistakable work of Antonio Lopez: a makeup bag, mirror and tote. Makeup bag available at MAC store only; mirror, full distribution; Antonio Lopez Tote, online only.
