Thirty years after its very first screening, Himala remains one of the most celebrated Filipino films ever made. Ten years ago, this multi-awarded film was made into a musical called HIMALA: Panibagong Pagtingin sa Mukha ni Elsa.
Now, in commemoration of the 10th Anniversary of the musical, a special concert entitled Himala, A Celebration of the Musical will be staged at the PETA Theater.
Synopsis:
Barrio Cupang was a community craving for a miracle to rescue them from what they believe was a twist of bad karma.
Elsa becomes the miracle they were longing for.
During a solar eclipse, the Virgin Mary appears to Elsa, who Elsa begins to heal the townsfolk. Soon she becomes a national figure whose miraculous power draws the faithful, the curious and the skeptic to this once quiet town.
What happens when people are faced with the miracle they’ve been longing for? How do they react? What will they believe?
Experience a new perspective of Ricky Lee’s story through the music of Vincent de Jesus and the powerful voices of May Bayot, Isay Alvarez and Cynthia Culig-Guico, as they take audiences into a heartwarming and thought-provoking journey into the life of Elsa and Barrio Cupang.
Himala, A Celebration of the Musical will be staged at the PETA Theater Center on March 15, 16, 17, 22, 23 and 24.
