So I've heard a lot of people saw a drop in their Meralco bills.
Even though this month is no cooler than last month (in fact I feel God's anger when I go outside), our Meralco bill went down by a good amount.
What I did:
Gave up the fax machine, wine cooler, and Airport Express in the living room. Unplugged appliances when not in use. Bought an Asahi air cooler to "assist" our aircon in bringing down the temperature in the bedroom. Changed many lightbulbs into Landlite LEDs. Packed up the inflatable pool, because water pumps cost a lot of energy.
The bill went down by PHP 7,762 while consumption went down by 240 kilo watt hours.
Air coolers can be bought at appliance and hardware stores. Ours cost about PHP 6,000. These things do not work when there is no cool air to circulate, so they are basically aircon assistants.
LED bulbs cost around PHP 500 each and can be bought at hardware stores or the Landlite showroom at the Fort.
Yesterday I bought Power Savers at ACE Hardware in Megamall. These cost PHP 1500 per unit and you'll need one unit per PHP 3,500/electric bill.
I bought a few of them so I'll let you know what happens. If you want to see how these work, go to Ace Hardware and watch the demo.
After that, inverter aircons and solar power are next. I'll be updating you in my quest for an affordable Meralco bill.
