I was a Barbie fan for the longest time, but I got over it.
I grew up I guess. Or I realize I don't have space anymore.
I also made Barbie clothes when I was a designer. They are in a box somewhere, I should show you.
Yesterday I walked into the Ballet Philippines x Barbie exhibit in the middle of the Podium and got to see the dolls up close.
The dolls were auctioned off for charity. Some of them are really nice, but I don't understand why there is no protection around it. Some of the dolls had dirty faces, which is a shame.
As a Barbie lover, I thought that If you're going to auction these, Mattel or Ballet Philippines should've at least chosen the Barbies with the good faces, not the 99-peso dead stock they just wanna get rid of. After all, if you're paying PHP 30,000 for a Barbie for charity, in a handmade designer frock, you might as well get a top-of-the line doll.
This Barbie, for instance, would look stunning had they provided Joey Samson with a better doll.
Also, why did they mix the Barbies with some Bratz-looking creatures? I don't understand. Why wasn't a Barbie connoisseur consulted?
There's that dirt again.
So you know I like to pretend I'm Madonna drafting my own football team. This time I pretended I was a judge for the best Barbies on exhibit.
Here are the winners on my list:
My favorite was the white tulle dress by Patrice Ramos Diaz, with plus points for the hat and veil
Jerome Lorico's set is a winner!
He is truly a créateur. No wonder he was singled out on Bornrich.org.
Joey Samson x Barbie is too cute for words
I have never seen Barbie in such a plunging, yet well-fitting dress (Dong Omaga Diaz)
Pitoy Moreno's Barbie is a classic. Again, why the cheap doll?
Sayang.
