The recent flooding at Orchard Road has left me craving for chicken rice, because I was imagining being stranded at the Mandarin Orchard, but having Chatterbox Hainanese chicken rice for room service.
Since it's such an effort to cook chicken rice at home, STV's chicken rice is the next best thing when you're really craving.
Chef Stevie accepts orders for home-cooked chicken rice.
Call at least one day in advance and pick it up from his Bel-Air residence.
Your order will come in two big foil takeout trays—one with rice and one with chicken swimming in broth.
You'll also get four cups of sauces: thick soy sauce, ginger, chili and extra topping sauce.
I personally like to get it out of the tray for presentation's sake, and eat it with chopsticks.
Of course there's nothing like authentic chicken rice at Singapore (I wish he would use jasmine rice instead of this short grain, plus I prefer boneless chicken) but when in Manila, it's good enough for me.
Oh, and the reason why it took me so long to blog about it is because I always feel remorse after eating it (read: I tend to eat a LOT.)
One order costs PHP 950 and serves about four people (never mind what the flyer says), so best to gather a group. I do not recommend eating reheated leftovers as it's not very good, so consume as soon as possible.
