When I was younger, my favorite airport stopover food was the Beef Bowl in Narita. I would purposely not eat on the plane so that I could have space for that dish. After Narita renovated, the beef bowl is no longer served at the same spot, but found a place called Bowl Bowl that has it.
It’s really not the greatest dish. It’s more of a comfort food/sentimental memory lane thing for me.
Now one of the things I look forward to at the Hong Kong airport is the tonkatsu meal at Saboten.
Located on the food court area near the Disney store, Saboten is always busy with a queue of guests waiting to be served.
This is my normal order—breaded pork tenderloin and the works
Not fond of tonkatsu sauce, I pour two portions of yuzu salad dressing over the crushed sesame seeds. I prefer this dipping sauce
Other combos: Loin and tenderloin
Loin and shrimp
Just loin, and more.
Now, where to find really good tonkatsu in Manila? Please tell me and not the fastfood kind please
Saboten, which specializes in deep-fried pork cutlet and its popular ground sesame sauce, is expanding all over Asia.
